The Center for Environmental Design Research and Outreachs Historical Resource Intern Program at the University of Calgary is pleased to offer an exciting new training video for interpreters " General Principles of Heritage Resource Management Interpretation". The course instructor is John A. Veverka, an internationally known interpretive planer and trainer. John is the author of the textbook "Interpretive Master Planning", and has over 28 years of experience in "doing" and "teaching" interpretation.Using his own style of humor and magic, John "interprets" the basics of the state-of-the-art of interpretive communications.
Topics Covered include: 1. The psychology of the audience how your visitors learn and remember your interpretive message. 2. Tildens Interpretive Principals. What must happen to transform the "information" into "Interpretation". 3. The Model of Interpretation the key for interpretive program and service planning. 4. Market Analysis who is your audience and what do you need to know about them? 5. Setting real objectives (learn, feel, do). 6. Developing real themes (themes are complete sentences). 7. Media selection (cost per contact, cost effectiveness). 8. Evaluation Did the program accomplish your objectives? 9. Implementation how to go from ideas to reality.
